Makeup Photo Editor: Try a Reference Look on Your Selfie

Photo Editing vs. Makeup Try-On

Many photo editors are designed to retouch a finished image. A makeup decision tool has a different job: it should help you judge whether a palette, placement, and finish suit your face before you recreate the makeup in real life.

Reference makeup editor Generic beauty filter
Starting point Your chosen makeup inspiration A preset overlay
Placement Adapted to the selfie’s visible proportions Often fixed or generalized
Identity goal Preserve the original person May retouch or reshape
Primary use Evaluate a makeup direction Polish a social photo

Choose the Right Two Photos

The reference image

  • One clearly visible face with complete eye, cheek, and lip makeup.
  • Neutral enough lighting to read the true makeup colors.
  • No collage, heavy text, watermark across the face, or obstruction.

Your selfie

  • Front-facing, sharp, and large enough to see natural skin texture.
  • Neutral expression and lighting without a beauty filter.
  • Eyes, brows, cheeks, and lips fully visible.

What the AI Is Asked to Edit

The editor uses the reference for cosmetic information only: base finish, contour, highlight, blush, brow styling, eye makeup, and lip design. Your selfie remains the source for identity, facial structure, expression, hair, clothing, framing, and background.

If the reference has a different face shape or eye shape, a useful result adapts the placement instead of pasting it at the same pixel coordinates.

Private Template Reuse

Premium users can name and save up to 30 private reference templates. Reusing a template does not require uploading the inspiration again. Generating a new result uses one normal generation credit; saving or deleting the template does not consume a credit.

Turn Your Inspiration into a Private Try-On

Upload the reference, add your selfie, and judge the makeup on you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a makeup photo editor copy a reference look?

Reference-based AI can extract cosmetic direction such as eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush, lips, and base finish from one image and adapt it to a different selfie. It should not copy the reference person’s identity.

Is this a manual makeup editor?

No. AI Beauty Stylist is decision-focused rather than a brush-by-brush retouching tool. You choose a curated look or reference image and the AI creates a complete preview.

Which photo gives the best result?

Use a sharp, front-facing selfie in neutral light. Avoid beauty filters, heavy shadows, hands over the face, sunglasses, and very small faces in group photos.

Can I share a private reference result?

Not in the initial private-reference experience. Reference templates and their generated results are owner-only and public sharing is disabled.
